P.K. Subban, champion skier Vonn announce engagement

"Right off the bat, I knew he was different," Vonn, a four-time Olympian, said.

Olympic gold-medal skier Lindsey Vonn is engaged to be married for the second time.

New Jersey Devils defenceman and former Montreal Canadien P.K. Subban and Vonn announced their engagement on Friday in an article in Vogue.

“Right off the bat, I knew he was different,” Vonn, a four-time Olympian, said in the article. “But I’d been married before, so I was pretty hesitant to let myself think that I could find someone that I would want to be married to again.

“After a few months of dating, I knew he was the one I wanted to be with, though. He makes me happy, and he’s so positive and energetic.”

Vonn, 34, is the winningest female Alpine racer of all time with 82 World Cup victories, 20 World Cup titles, three Olympic medals and eight World Championship medals.

Vonn previously was married to fellow Olympic skier Thomas Vonn and later dated Tiger Woods after her divorce. She met Subban, 30, at the Nickelodeon sports show in 2017 before going public with the relationship in June 2018.

Like Vonn, Subban also has an Olympic gold medal in his possession. The three-time NHL All-Star and former Norris Trophy recipient won gold while playing for Canada in the 2014 Sochi Games, while Vonn has three Olympic medals, including a gold in downhill skiing.

“Lindsey’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” Subban said in the article. “There are people in life that deserve to be with good people. They have that person who takes care of them and makes them smile, and she deserves to be with someone who loves her more than anything else in the world, and I do.”

Subban proposed last month at the couple’s home in Los Angeles, according to the article.
